The problem comes when you don't comply with the CAN-SPAM (Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing) Act of 2003. Yes there is an inexpensive solution to send mass emails that will also keep you out of trouble ... if you follow the CAN-SPAM Act guidelines. The FCC published a guide that is easier to understand. It basically says you need to be clear and honest in the messages, and message subjects, you send, and you must allow a recipient to "Opt-Out" (unsubscribe/remove themselves) from your email list at their discretion.
